Analyzing the Impact of Parental Support in ECE
The Impact of Parental Support in ECE
Parental support plays a huge role in the success of early childhood students. The research is clear that when parents are involved students tend to put much greater effort into learning. As a teacher, it is important to understand the importance of parental support and to work hard to make sure parents understand how crucial their role is in their child’s education. An interesting article I came across during my research was How Poor Parental Support Affects Student Growth And Achievement? It touches on the impact that parental involvement has on student success and achievement in early childhood education. Through my research, I created a handout that outlines the impact that parental support has on a child’s education and suggestions parents can incorporate into their daily routines to help their child in school.
Meeting the Needs of Early Learners without Parental Support
Teachers understand the impact that parental involvement has on the success of a child. However, there will be times when a teacher must work to support a student with little to no parental support. Researching solutions and having a plan to help students who lack parental support enables us as teachers to have a better opportunity to meet the needs of all students in the early learning environment. In my cohort, we explored possible reasons for the lack of parental support and brainstormed solutions to meet the needs of early learners. Then we researched strategies that you can employ in the classroom to meet the needs of students who lack parental support. Finally, we role-played, demonstrating some of the techniques you can utilize to support students who lack parental support.
